However, fungal infections within the nail plate itself (onychomycosis) require oral antifungal therapy, as topical agents cannot penetrate the hard keratin matrix of the nail. Ebernet Lot can treat the surrounding skin and help prevent reinfection of the nail fold, but if the nail itself is thickened, discoloured, or crumbling, an oral antifungal prescribed by a dermatologist is necessary for the nail component.

A3. Neonatal and infant skin has significantly higher percutaneous absorption than adult skin due to a thinner stratum corneum and larger surface-area-to-weight ratio. Any topical antifungal applied under nappy (diaper) occlusion — where the nappy creates a warm, humid microenvironment — further increases systemic absorption. Ebernet Lot is not recommended for neonates or infants without explicit paediatric dermatology supervision. For fungal nappy rash in infants, a paediatrician typically recommends age-appropriate antifungal formulations with an established neonatal safety profile.
Q4. What is the correct application technique for Ebernet Lot in athlete's foot, particularly in the toe web spaces?
A4. The toe web spaces (the areas between toes) are the most common site for tinea pedis and are particularly challenging because they remain moist throughout the day. Dry the feet and between-toe spaces thoroughly after washing — use a dedicated clean towel or cotton swab for the toe webs. Apply a small amount of Ebernet Lot specifically into each web space and the surrounding toe skin, not just broadly on the foot. Allow to dry before wearing socks. Wearing moisture-wicking socks and rotating shoes to allow them to dry between wearings dramatically reduces recurrence rates alongside antifungal treatment.

Eberconazole is effective against Malassezia and can clear active infection within 2–4 weeks. However, the pigmentation changes — particularly the pale hypopigmented patches common after infection in darker skin tones — persist for weeks to months after the fungus is eradicated, as melanocyte function recovers slowly. Patients often think the treatment failed because the patches remain visible; in fact, the infection is gone but the pigment is still normalising. Sun exposure after treatment can help even out the repigmentation faster, paradoxically.
