Q1. How is the Derma Angel Day Patch different from the Night Patch?
A1. The Night Patch contains Salicylic Acid and focuses on active treatment — drawing out pimple fluid and exfoliating the follicle wall while you sleep. The Day Patch contains no active pharmaceutical ingredients; instead it uses Polyurethane-1 (a breathable, waterproof polymer film used in medical wound dressings) and Hydrogenated Styrene/Isoprene Copolymer (an ultra-thin transparent elastomer) to create a protective shield over the pimple during the day. The Day Patch prevents mechanical contamination (fingers, fabrics, pollution), blocks UV radiation from reaching the inflamed lesion (which would worsen PIH), and is transparent enough to wear under makeup. The two patches work as a 24-hour cycle: active treatment at night, protective shielding during the day.
Q2. What does the Polyurethane-1 membrane in the Day Patch do?
A2. Polyurethane-1 is the same class of breathable film used in premium medical wound dressings globally. It is semi-permeable: it allows oxygen to pass through (supporting aerobic healing in skin cells) and releases water vapour (preventing the maceration and softening that would occur under a fully occlusive material all day), while simultaneously blocking liquid water, bacteria, airborne particles, and contaminants from reaching the pimple from outside. This creates an optimal healing microenvironment under the patch — protected from contamination, oxygenated, and moisture-balanced — that accelerates resolution compared to an unprotected inflamed lesion exposed to the skin's full daily environmental load.
Q3. Can the Day Patch be worn under foundation or concealer without showing?
A3. The transparent, ultra-thin design using Hydrogenated Styrene/Isoprene Copolymer is specifically engineered for invisible daytime wear under makeup. Apply foundation or concealer over the patch using a damp sponge (not a brush, which can displace patch edges) with light pressing motion rather than dragging. The smooth patch surface accepts liquid and cream formulas well, and powder products applied over it help blend the patch edges into surrounding skin. Remove the patch before cleansing at the end of the day — most makeup removers will lift the patch adhesion naturally when the area is cleaned.
Q4. How long can the Day Patch be safely worn and is it waterproof?
A4. The Day Patch is designed for daytime wear up to 12 hours. The Polyurethane-1 membrane is water-resistant — it repels liquid water while still allowing vapour transmission, making the patch functional through normal daily activities involving incidental water contact (washing hands, splashing face). For swimming or extended water exposure, check adhesion and reapply if needed. Do not wear the same patch for longer than 12 hours; daily replacement of both Night and Day patches ensures optimal hygiene and adhesion performance.
Q5. Should the Day Patch be used even if the pimple is not visibly inflamed or is healing?
A5. The Day Patch is beneficial throughout the healing cycle of a pimple, not only at peak inflammation. Even as an active pimple flattens and begins to resolve, the healing skin remains photosensitive (UV exposure to a healing pimple is one of the primary drivers of post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation in Indian skin tones) and mechanically vulnerable (friction against fabrics, touching with unclean fingers, and makeup pressure can all reinfect or reinflame a resolving lesion). Continuing the Day Patch until the skin surface has returned to completely smooth and unpigmented — typically 3–5 days after the pimple itself has flattened — maximally reduces PIH risk and speeds complete healing.
