FAQs
Q1. What does niacinamide do in IPCA Acne-OC Moisturizer, and why is it suited to acne-prone skin?
A1. Niacinamide (Vitamin B3) regulates sebum production at the pore level to reduce oiliness that feeds breakouts, strengthens the skin barrier to lower redness and sensitivity, and minimises the appearance of enlarged pores over time. In this formula it's paired with zinc sulfate — a proven antimicrobial — for a dual approach to sebum control and bacteria reduction that works beneath the surface, not just on top of it.
Q2. Can I use it alongside prescription acne treatments like tretinoin or benzoyl peroxide?
A2. Yes — it's designed for exactly this purpose. Niacinamide helps offset the dryness and barrier disruption that tretinoin and benzoyl peroxide commonly cause. Apply Acne-OC Moisturizer after your prescription treatment has been allowed to absorb (5–10 minutes), then follow with SPF in the morning.
Q3. Is it practical to use in India's heat and humidity?
A3. Yes — the lightweight, oil-free formula gives a matte finish that stays non-greasy in humid conditions. This makes it considerably more wearable in tropical climates than standard cream moisturizers, which tend to feel heavy or occlusive in summer. The matte effect also holds up better than water-gel formulas that turn tacky in heat.
Q4. Does it help with post-acne dark marks?
A4. It contains retinyl palmitate (a gentle form of Vitamin A) which promotes mild cell turnover and may gradually lighten post-acne pigmentation with consistent use. It won't replace a dedicated brightening serum, but as a daily moisturizer it contributes to an overall improvement in skin tone alongside its sebum-regulating function.
Q5. How long before shine is visibly reduced and pores look smaller?
A5. Reduced shine is usually noticeable within the first few days of use. Pore appearance minimises more gradually — most users see measurable improvement after 4–6 weeks of consistent morning and evening use, as the sebum regulation and barrier-strengthening effects build up over time.
Q6. Does it work well as a base under sunscreen and makeup?
A6. Yes — it absorbs cleanly and provides a smooth, non-tacky surface. Allow 1–2 minutes for full absorption, then apply a non-comedogenic SPF 50 over it. It doesn't pill under sunscreen or foundation, and the matte finish keeps the overall look clean throughout the day.
